Great Place to Work certified Qualicare once again this spring, recognizing that our proud employees find their work rewarding and meaningful. Qualicare was also awarded 39th place overall in Best Places to Work in Canada 2024, in the category of companies with 100-999 employees. Additionally, for the second year in a row, Qualicare was named as a Best Workplace for Women.
These distinctions are awarded based upon survey feedback by Qualicare’s employees. An incredible 91% of employees say that Qualicare is a great place to work. At this year’s recognition ceremony, Megan White, Qualicare’s Vice President of Operations, said the distinction was an incredible honor. “This recognition affirmed that our efforts to foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging work environment have truly made a difference,” White said.
The recognition ceremony itself, White said, was a memorable event, filled with excitement and a sense of accomplishment. “When Qualicare Home Care was announced as #39 for companies with 100-999 employees, our team felt immense pride and joy,” White said. “We have worked really hard to develop a collaborative and inclusive culture for our caregivers and it was a great opportunity to celebrate that collective hard work and dedication to creating an exceptional workplace.”
Qualicare’s certification report indicates that employees responded positively to statements that indicate they feel a high degree of pride in their work. Though pride in work is critical to positive outcomes in any field, in healthcare, according to White, pride has an even deeper meaning. “We work with clients and family members during some of the most challenging times of their lives,” White said. Therefore, having a high degree of job satisfaction, motivation, company pride, and positivity enhances the personal relationship between caregiver and client. “This type of pride has us consistently seeing our employees going above and beyond in their roles in order to make their client’s day even better,” White said.
For the second year in a row, Qualicare also received recognition as being a Best Workplace for Women. White described Qualicare as a “female-driven organization.” The majority of the home office staff, franchisees and employees are women. “We ensure equal opportunities for career advancement and leadership roles, actively promoting gender diversity in management positions,” White said. By providing flexible work schedules, Qualicare helps women maintain their personal and professional responsibilities. A focus on training, and providing tools and resources, helps female employees face “situations that are unique to the home care space and foster an inclusive and supportive work environment where women feel valued, respected, and empowered to excel in their careers,” White said.
An impressive 95% of respondents said they feel good about the ways Qualicare contributes to the community, according to the Great Place to Work certification report. “Qualicare is a very community-centered organization,” White said. “Many of our franchisees have entered this business because of how much they care about giving back to their local communities, and our employees are very similar.”
Qualicare organizes health fairs, educational workshops, and support groups to assist families and individuals in need. Qualicare also supports client’s families, alleviating the burden of caregiving, which contributes to overall community well-being. Employees of Qualicare are often involved in local volunteer activities, non-profit organizations, and support community projects. “We focus a lot of our time and energy in developing partnerships with local organizations and collaborating with local healthcare providers and community groups to enhance the quality of care and services available to residents,” White said.
