We're Growing! Introducing Qualicare Augusta

Launched in May of 2023, Cheryl & Anthony Graham wanted to create a Qualicare franchise in Augusta, GA to help give families “peace of mind.” Having cared for Anthony’s parents in their homes during illnesses, the couple understood how much having a professional to help families adjust to home-care eases stress, and increases the well-being of everyone involved. “There is nothing better than knowing that your mom or dad will be cared for properly in the comfort of their own home,” Cheryl said.

Congratulations to Cheryl & Anthony on a successful launch! Check out today’s interview with Cheryl to get to know Qualicare Augusta.

How have your professional & educational backgrounds supported your work with Qualicare?

Qualicare is not the first company the Graham’s have owned. For 22 years, Cheryl and Anthony have owned a transportation company, running at times 15 trucks per day. Cheryl managed payroll and human resources, and Anthony operated the day-to-day management and sales.

“I eventually went back to school to complete my MBA with a minor in Entrepreneurship,” Cheryl said. “Soon after, I began work outside of the home with our local city government as Human Resource Director and worked there for five years.”

Where did you find joy & support during the early days of owning a Qualicare franchise?

“Learning!” said Cheryl. “Owning and running a Home Care business is totally new to us both. So of course, we embrace all successes.” Rather than worry about failing, Cheryl said, “We don’t look at anything as failure; only lessons on how we can improve and do it better the next time.”

Like many franchise partners, Cheryl noted that the weekly calls with business coach Julia have been “a great help.” Cheryl said she appreciates weekly “Qconnect” meetings with other franchise partners, and if she can’t attend, she appreciates going back and taking notes about what she missed.

What advice could you give to prospective franchise partners?

“Preparation would be the keyword,” said Cheryl. “I learned a lot of information prior to launching. There was “Climb to Base Camp,” and “Base Camp,” where I was able to interact with other new owners. All of the preparation was necessary once I attained my first client and hired my first caregiver. It was then that I had to put all that I learned into action. The amount of time you put into preparation determines how you handle real life situations or conflicts as they arise. And believe me, they will arise.”

Cheryl wrote that in her experience, the most important steps to preparing to launch a new Qualicare franchise are as follows:

  1. Study the home care industry.
  2. Continue to read and review all the information given in “Climb to Base Camp.”
  3. Take notes on important points during Base Camp
  4. Read and reread “Policies and Procedures.”
  5. Watch all Qconnects
  6. Participate in any opportunity given to get knowledge from others who have more experience.
  7. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
